Taylormade r7 460 tp driver review

That driver is the TaylorMade r7 Now this club may not be the latest and greatest introduction from TaylorMade — it originally came out in — but before you dismiss it because of its age, read on. The r7 measures cc, the largest volume allowed by the USGA, and is the largest of the r7 drivers produced by TaylorMade.

In a word, it is BIG. The exceptionally large head is designed to make it extraordinarily forgiving and extraordinarily easy to launch. If you instead install the 2-gram cartridge in the toe port and the gram in the heel port, the CG shifts toward the heel, promoting a large draw.

A key difference between them: The r7 TP driver is engineered with a square clubface alignment, which is preferred by better players, while the r7 driver is slightly closed. When it first came out, the r7 was available in 8. You can find one these days for a heck of a lot less, so it might be worth your while to go and try one to see how it looks and feels to you. The has the largest permitted head of the TaylorMade range for those who prefer there driver to have a bigger footprint at address.

The design of the head and sole is excellent and the sole in particular gives it a very aggessive look. For us the standard shaft was a bit disappointing, so the TP version with it's better quality shaft is the one to go for if your budget can stretch that far.

The TaylorMade r7 is the best driver I have ever owned. I am typically a bad slice, but this one straightens me right out. I am a long hitter, but the slice kills the length.

With just a quick adjustment of the weights, you're slice is not rocking down the middle of the fairway. I strongly suggest you test all the weight settings at the driving range for a bit, just to get the feel down for each. You don't want to set the club too weighted if you don't need it. I found just a slight adjustment made all the difference in the world.

This club is long too. I like the high ball flight and feeling of control. I just got a 9. This is the most forgiving and longest club I have hit yet. Went to a Taylormade demo and hit it and fell in love with it right on the spot. Perfect launch monitor numbers for my swing and a great solid feel with the Diamana 64 stiff shaft. Played with it Saturday and hit 14 fairways and if not for a couple of dumb short iron and chipping mistakes would have shot my best yet.

Huge difference in the TP vs the non TP in feel and ball flight for me. My and R5tp are off to the market place now! After a season of drooling over my Dad's R7 , I finally got my own when he decided that he needed to go from Regular Flex I have been to the range with it once and golfed 18 holes with it once.

Personally I think it's a pretty nice club. My only gripe with the R7 is the tinny sound that you get when you make contact with the ball. Other than that I really like this driver. I am a very high handicapper average round about ! This club added a few yards to my drives, however the main thing I like about it is the forgiveness. Mishits still went pretty straight, and I only sliced it once, and even then it was much less of a slice than I was typically hitting with my old club.

I am really looking forward to getting more comfortable with this driver, but I am very impressed thus far. Moderately forgiving head but had issues with too much spin and ballooning shots out on the course.

The club was long when the wind was working in my favor though. Love this driver. The launch angle was awesome. My distance has been maxed and I love it. My next move will be to a SuperQuad but I see that happening in about 8 months to a year or so once the price goes down.

I have a stoock 9. I have always been over avg. I'm killing this combo I've hit all the new stuff ,which is good stuff. For those of you who are experts with the TM R7 and have experience a variety of shafts. My ss is between I had this driver for about 2 months, it was pretty much hit or miss, I never could get consistent with it.

It was more the indian then the arrow. When I would catch it solid it went forever, the stock shaft is pretty good. Im about to get an aldila shaft for the driver cause i have a high launch angle with it and would like a lower trajectory. Also first graphite shafted driver ive ever hit This thing is a launcher!

I've hit all the new drivers out in the last year, and this thing is long and straight. Probably a few others I've forgotten by now. The Superquad is in my bag and always outperformed all others. I travel alot and decided to build a cheap "travel bag" so I picked up a used TM r7 9. I hit the club in the stock draw setup 14 gms on heel, 2 gms on toe on the launch monitor and was getting great numbers for my swing speed.

Yeah, OK those are launch monitor numbers. I've played 4 rounds with the club now, and it blows away all the drivers I've ever tried, including my beloved SuperQuad. The ball flight has been dead straight to just the slightest fade result of my standard swing. I haven't hit a true slice with the club yet, after at least swings at the range and in play. The trajectory is much lower than the Superquad, the total distance is at least 20 yds farther, mostly because of the lower trajectory leading to lots more roll.

I hit 12 of 14 fairways on 2 of the 4 rounds really. I can't say enough good things about how accurate, solid and consistent the r7 has been for me.

I found the Holy Grail. It doesn't. Go figure. I've never played a Graffaloy before mostly Aldila and Fujikura , but I will be looking at those shafts for other clubs in the future. I think the lower torque 2. Love this club. It feels like a really well made driver, I had a Cleveland launcher that sounded the best of any driver I hit to this day but the face was a degree open.

I got the draw model with the 2 degree closed, this really helps my ball flight, it wont fix a slice, trust me, but It can still be a well played driver for a higher handicap. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account.
